Summer Camping 101

With the weather warming up, we’ve got the itch to break out of the house and take on the outdoors. Favorite summertime activity? Well, we don’t typically like to choose favorites. But if we absolutely had to, we’d choose camping any day of the week. Some folks prefer to hit the great outdoors in their RV or camper, while others prefer the comfort of a log cabin. Us, on the other hand, we like to take it outside for the real thing. We’re talkin’ pitching tents, cooking on the open grill, and plenty of s’mores. There are few things you need to know to make your camping experience worth-while. Good food, great company, and a beautiful location are KEY elements to a perfect weekend (assuming you’ve already packed the CHO).

Upstate New York makes for the perfect camping destination. Weather can be a bit unpredictable, so be sure to check in with Mother Nature before taking it outdoors.  Summer’s the perfect time to pitch a tent, avoiding spring storms & chilly temps. An entire weekend of tent huddling is not exactly our idea of fun camping.  Sure, it can be romantic to hear the pouring rain outside, but we’ll pass on the soaked tents and wait for the sun!

At the end of the day, there’s nothing more memorable than the sound of laughter, a crackling fire, and the sweet smell of summertime.  So, what are you waiting for? Round up the gang; it’s camping time!
